‘Cheers’ Actor George Wendt’s Alleged Health Issues Months Before Passing Away — Details #2

Just a day before the world learned of his passing, the 76-year-old actor made a rare and somber appearance in public.

On May 19, 2025, a caretaker wheeled “Cheers” star George Wendt into a dialysis clinic in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, where he appeared visibly “frail and weary.”

The Emmy-nominated actor, dressed in a flannel shirt, shorts, and sneakers, reportedly underwent three hours of treatment, according to the photos published by the Daily Mail.

As he left the clinic, Wendt clutched a pillow for support while his wife of 45 years, actress Bernadette Birkett, 78, helped him into their vehicle.

Though Wendt had not publicly addressed any recent health issues, he had faced serious medical challenges in the past. In 2012, he was hospitalized with chest pains and later underwent coronary bypass surgery.

In the following years, Wendt kept a low public profile, making occasional appearances. He competed on “The Masked Singer” and reunited with his former castmates during a “Cheers” tribute at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
